THE SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN!

TONY CLAYTON VOTED IN AS THE MAN!

Congratulations are in order for Insite good friend attorney Tony Clayton. On Friday he was elected as the Chairman of the Southern University Board of Supervisors. Clayton who ran unsuccessfully last year said he campaigned until 3 in the morning to ensure he had enough votes to claim the position. Clayton says in 2007 he thought he had enough votes to win when he realized overnight some of his supporters had switched allegiances. Clayton replaces Alexandria City Councilman Myron Lawson as head of the board. Clayton says his first order of business will be to meet with state lawmakers to ensure Southern gets more funding at the flagship university to the Black community of Louisiana. The Port Allen based attorney also said he will focus on out of state fee waivers. Clayton said the historically Black college is loosing lots of potential students as a result of the out of state fees. Clayton thanked his wife Paula and several board members like Rev. Jesse Billberry for being a role model for him on the goeverning body!
