History will show that President George W. Bush was one of our nation’s greatest presidents. A moment of reflection on his presidency will provide a window into his greatness as a leader.
When President Bush took office, our economy was in recession and was hit hard by the attacks of September 11, 2001. Thanks to President Bush’s tax cuts for all Americans who pay taxes, our economy experienced a miraculous recovery. The 2008 economic challenges addressed aggressively by President Bush threatened to undermine his accomplishments, but his achievements cannot be denied.
Under President Bush, federal spending on education has increased nearly 40 percent, with record expenditures for important programs that affect minorities.
Thanks also to President Bush, we have expanded access to health care for the poor and, for the first time in our nation’s history, we now have a Medicare prescription-drug program that includes health-savings accounts and allows people to make their own health-care decisions. The funding for the ADIS initiative in Africa was increased three-fold to $15 billion, and the Malaria initiative is yielding success.
War on Terrorism
The number one duty of the President of the United States of America is to protect the American people and our way of life. President Bush has earned the respect and gratitude of our nation for his leadership and actions that have kept us safe from any further terrorist attacks since September 11, 2001.
