JACKSON LEE ALLEGEDLY ACCEPTED AN EXOTIC TRIP FROM CITIGROUP!
Houston Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was among six democratic members of Congress who took a Caribbean trip reportedly at the expense of Citigroup.
Citigroup is one of the Wall Street firms that has accepted billions of dollars in federal bailout funds.
The trip to the island of St. Maarten took place just days after the November election.
The House members attended a conference on multi-cultural business.
Jackson Lee’s office issued a statement regarding her participation in the trip.
“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has been invited to participate for a number of congressional terms in the Caribbean Multicultural Business conference… to her knowledge the conference has always been sponsored by the Caribbean news association.”
Jared Woodfill, Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, criticized the trip.
“That’s why so many people are turned off government, people are turned off by politics,” Woodfill said.
