Don’t know what it is, but it sure seems there’s something about Beyonce that ticks off older singers. For the second time in a year, a veteran performer has gone off on Beyonce — and in public, no less. The latest to do so is Etta James, who Beyonce played in “Cadillac Records.” What apparently set James off was the fact that Beyonce was asked to perform the song “At Last” at an inaugural ball for President Barack Obama. In an audio clip posted online, James say she would “whip” Beyonce for doing the song for Obama instead of her. The clip is said to be from a January 31st concert in Canada. During the show, James says: “The great Beyonce … I can’t stand Beyonce!” She added that Beyonce “has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day, gonna be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.” James even has words for Obama, telling the audience that while he might be “their president,” he isn’t her president. Spokespeople for James and Beyonce declined to comment.
