WHAT: Emergency fundraising appeal for SHAPE Community Center
Houstonians will be targeted via a live radio program designed to keep the doors of this premier facility open to the public. For 40 years, The SHAPE Community Center, a 501c3 non-profit organization, has been an integral part of the city’s rich culture. It has helped register citizens to vote, fed the hungry, provided assistance to needy families, recreation for children and nourished seniors. The programs that have taken so long to develop are now in danger as a tough economy presents funding challenges.
WHEN: Thursday, May 21 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am
WHERE: KCOH radio studios, 5011 Almeda Road.
We are asking ALL Houston news sources to provide coverage of the effort to save this landmark. The loss of SHAPE will impact hundreds of children, single mothers, senior citizens and thousands of others who seek and find help through this organization every year. A group of private citizens has come together to make the community aware of the difficult financial situation facing SHAPE and will be asking donors to come forth with funds to help keep the doors open.
