ANDY BENAVIDES’ STORY AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS JUST LIKE IT!
Andy Benavides (pictured above) is a relatively young man who’s life took a dramatic turn for the worst. He wasn’t like most people who are stricken by illnesses that require routine treatment from a physician.
Andy needed a heart. A new heart because his was no longer able to sustain him. Through a gift of life Andy was given a new lease on his. He was the recipient of a heart from a donor.
On Saturday October 3rd Andy was among several other people just like him. People who had received organs or played a crucial role in donating. People like Judy Goodwell who donates blood and platelets on a regular basis.
They took part in the annual Lone Star Circle of Life. It’s a bike ride put on by Houston’s Life Gift. An organization that connects donors with recipients in our community.
Just under twenty riders took a historical journey to bring attention to the importance of organ donations. This year the trek takes the bikers on a week long journey from Houston to San Antonio to spread the message.
Some of the people at the event were: Ariana Montelongo, Andy Benavides, Judy Goodwell, Warryn Boson, Kevin Fisk, Fred Carter and a long list of others!
