TEARING DOWN AT THE SAVOY!

THE END OF AN ERA IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON!

Time finally caught up with an iconic building in downtown Houston. It’s the Savoy Hotel built back in 1906. City officials felt the old structure no longer complimented the skyline. It had become an eyesore and hazard for downtown Houston. So beginning this weekend bulldozers and wrecking balls took to what use to be a quality hotel in the city. Dozens of people throughout the day showed up downtown to witness the destruction of the old 7-story landmark. The demolition also caused some problems for downtown public transportation riders. Because many streets had to be shut down to accommodate the demolition the light rail line was blocked. It’s likely to last until early Monday morning. Here are some shots of the structure captured by the Insite!
