A former funeral director is due in court next week after investigators allegedly discovered several graphic photos of him and a corpse on his computer.
James Patton, 38, was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse after a Houston police recovered the digital photos from his computer, according to a probably cause statement. The photos included a “a corpse with an exposed vagina” and “images of defendant’s penis touching the corpse’s body (specifically her feet).”
Patton posted bond but is due in court Oct. 12.
Patton was being investigated in connection to an Internet harassment dispute between him and his ex-girlfriend, according to the statement.
On April 2, officials executed a search warrant at his home in the 2200 block of Dunlavy and seized digital evidence, including his computers, according to the statement. It was months later, on Aug. 14, that officials allegedly recovered the photos from his computer.
When Patton was confronted with the images and was asked, “When was the lat time you did this?,” he told investigators about a year ago.
Patton was an employee of a funeral home in the 8300 block of the Katy Freeway between June 2008 and October 2008.
