It was back in November when Houston community activist Quanell X went on the offensive against three Houston police officers. X claimed they had violated the rights and brutally beaten Houstonian Marvin Driver during an arrest for outstanding warrants. It made big headlines because Driver is the father of NFL football player Donald Driver.
But there was something different about this case. The officers who were targeted by Quanell X came out swinging. They actually filed a lawsuit against the activist alleging defamation of character. X said he would vigorously defend himself and his statements in a court of law.
Not any more. We’ve learned both sides met quietly in closed door meetings over the last few weeks. After intense talks the lawsuit has been settled. But how it was settled depends on who you ask.
The Insite sent a text message to X Monday night asking if he had settled the lawsuit with the officers. His response was, “no settle, they dropped their suit.”
If you call sources close to the cops you get a different answer. That person tells The Insite the lawsuit was settled but the details were not released as to who put what on the table.
The bottom line is that portion of the lawsuit is over. However, the three officers have not dropped their lawsuit against Mr. Driver just yet. The Insite will keep you updated!
