Press Release: A traffic stop initiated by a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy nets 50 kilos of cocaine with a street value of about $1.25 million.
On the morning of Friday, December 4, 2009, Deputy R. Hoyt and his K-9 “Ducke” were out on patrol when he stopped the driver of a 2001 Honda Odyssey in the 10300 block of Fairmont Parkway for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Deputy Hoyt noticed that the driver was acting extremely nervous. He soon found out why. During a sweep of the vehicle, “Ducke” detected two bags of narcotics in the backseat. Each bag contained 25 kilos of cocaine.
The driver, identified as 56-year-old Ramiro Buentello of Houston, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the origin and destination of the drugs. No other details are available at this time.
