BILL KING SAYS MAYOR BILL WHITE AND CONTROLLER ANNISE PARKER ADMITS MAJOR PROBLEMS AHEAD FOR THE CITY!

IS HOUSTON FACING A DARK FINANCIAL FUTURE?

Here’s an article written by Bill King. He says the city is facing a very dark financial future. He says city leaders are actually concealing the truth from the public and Houston could end up deep in the hole in 2010. What do you think? Here’s what King has written:

In this year’s budget the City originally projected an operating deficit in its general fund of $90 million dollars for the year ending June 30, 2010. However, both the Administration and the Controller have conceded that the budget was overly optimistic and now estimate that the deficit will be $130-145 million. However, revenues are coming in weaker than even these revisions suggest. Unless revenues improve or the new administration makes some immediate cuts, it appears that this year’s deficit could swell to $175 million.

The real problem, however, will be next year. With built-in increases in personnel costs, especially pension and health insurance costs, the gap next year will likely be north of $200 million. To make matters worse, the City’s general fund reserves will have been spent down to minimal levels. So the new mayor and council are going to really have their work cut out for them next spring when they put together the FY2010-2011 budget.

COP CAUGHT ON TAPE: SEE THE CONTROVERSIAL VIDEO ON FOX 26 AT 5PM!

SEE THE VIDEO ON FOX 26 NEWS AT 5PM TODAY!

A Houston police officer is apologizing for his foul language and racial slur caught on tape. That officer, who’s name has not been released, was working extra security at Hush nightclub Saturday when a fight broke during a graduation party. A cash register was stolen in the confusion. The promoters at the club that night say they questioned the officers about their inability to control the crowd at the event that mainly catered to Prairie View A&M graduates. Corey LeDay says when the officer, who is African American, was confronted he called Blacks at the club n*****s. LeDay also says the officer told him f**k his money and Prairie View A&M. The entire incident was captured on tape by LeDay’s business partner Steven Bentham. Al Mitchell, who is the third promoter with Top Dawg Entertainment, says he couldn’t believe the officer’s behavior. That officer has since apologized in this written statement.

“I deeply regret the poor choice of words that I used during a heated conversation in the club office with the promoter of the event. The event had gotten out of control when a large, unruly crowd overwhelmed club security personnel at the club entrance. Members of the crowd stole a cash register after trampling a female employee, sending her and other innocent people to the hospital. I allowed my frustration to get the best of me when the promoter seemed only concerned about his lost profit, and not the welfare and safety of the innocent people who were injured. Even though others had used the offensive phrase in prior conversations, I should not have allowed myself to respond in kind. I do not feel that the use of such language is acceptable under any circumstances, and I apologize.”
From Top Dawg Entertainment:

The promoters also wanted to apologize to the graduates who attended the event at HUSH nightclub. The promoters say they never take their clients for granted and they send their deepest regrets for the incident.

MTV DANCE SHOW JUDGE FACES MOLESTATION CHARGES!

THE VICTIM WAS AT LEAST 10 YEARS YOUNGER!

Shane Sparks — a judge on the MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew” — has been arrested and charged with 8 counts of child molestation.

The LAPD took Sparks into custody at 8AM PT this morning on a felony warrant charging him with molestation.

The alleged incidents began occurring in 1994 and continued for several years. According to the criminal complaint Shane allegedly committed the crimes of lewd acts upon a child — all felonies. There is only one alleged victim.

The criminal complaint — filed by the L.A. County District Attorney’s office — charged Sparks with 8 incidents of alleged molestation with an underage girl. There was a clerical error in the D.A.’s charging documents — there are actually only 8 counts — not 9.

The lewd acts include oral copulation and other acts “with the intent of arousing, appealing to, and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires of the defendant, who was at least 10 years older than [the victim].”

Sparks — who was also a choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance” — is being held on $590,000 bail.

Sparks is the second person from “So You Think You Can Dance” who’s been in trouble with the law — earlier this year his co-star Alex Da Silva was charged with rape.

No immediate comment from Shane’s camp.

LET’S HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR WILLIE D…THE INSITE’S FRIEND!

SENTENCING IS SET FOR APRIL 2010!

Press Release From US Attorney: William James Dennis, aka Willie D, has pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges stemming from his purported sales of Apple iphones through a company known as Texas One Wireless, United States Attorney Tim Johnson and FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard C. Powers announced today.

At a hearing today before United States District Court Judge Gray Miller, Dennis, 42, a rap music recording artist, admitted to posing as an electronics salesman and using eBay to establish his credibility with international buyers. Once a buyer showed interest, Dennis directed the buyer outside of eBay to conduct sales via e-mail.

Numerous foreign individuals placed orders with Dennis for iphones and other electronics. Dennis required payment to be electronically transferred to his bank account. Once the transaction was confirmed, Dennis would send tracking numbers for packages that were never shipped. When the buyers complained about not receiving their purchases, Dennis would claim he had filed a complaint with the postal service or hired carrier and that he could not refund their money until he knew where his goods were. Eventually, Dennis would cease communication with the victimized parties. Twenty-nine individuals were defrauded of approximately $132,303 between September 2008 and April 2009.

“Financial frauds, whether committed in person or via the internet, victimize individuals, communities and the economy at large,” said Powers. “Those who feel these crimes can be committed with impunity will learn that the Houston Area Cyber Crimes Task Force (HACCTF) will continue to provide investigative and analytic resources to combat and discourage internet fraud.”

Dennis was arrested by FBI agents on May 13, 2009, as he returned from a trip overseas and was indicted on June 9, 2009. Dennis faces up to 20 years imprisonment to be followed by up to a five-year-term of supervised release and a maximum fine of $250,000 for the wire fraud conviction. As part of his agreement with the United States, Dennis will make full restitution at or before sentencing. Judge Miller has set sentencing for April 23, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Dennis will be permitted to remain on bond pending his sentencing.

The HACCTF is comprised of personnel from the FBI, Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Office, who received assistance in this investigation from the United States Postal Inspection Service. The charges arose after victims who did not receive merchandise nor refunds after many attempts complained to law enforcement. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sherri L. Zack.

“Willie D” was the lead member of a Houston rap group known as the Geto Boys. Between 1989 and 1996 they recorded a number of hit songs and had some albums that reached gold and or platinum status. In early 2005 the Geto Boys released a reunion album that was written and produced by Dennis. Dennis founded Relentless Music Ventures in 2006 and signed groups Nay Nay and Huntzville.
