It’s a story you saw first on FOX 26 Sports: Tom Penders, The University of Houston men’s basketball coach, has resigned.
The official announcement came Monday at a press conference on the school’s campus. Penders spoke to the media, saying he was leaving on his own terms, despite speculations otherwise.
“The truth is, I have decided to resign as the head basketball coach at the University of Houston,” said Penders. “I’m not retiring.”
Penders said he will look for future opportunities in and out of basketball.
“I came to the University of Houston in 2004 with a goal of getting UH back to the

The coach says he met with school leaders on Monday night, describing the discussion as “positive.”
