Wednesday morning, the Houston Police Department lost one of their own. Officer Eydelmen Mani was killed in a single car wreck.
His captain, Victor Rodriguez, said the 30-year-old was assisting fellow officers late Tuesday night.
“There was a vehicular chase involving a stolen vehicle and it appears Mani was trying to catch up,” Rodriguez said. As the officer was traveling outbound on the North freeway, he apparently lost control of his car.
The Houston Police Department said Mani lost control of his cruiser and slammed into a guardrail at East Troy Street, flipping the car on its roof before landing back on its wheels.
Firefighters had to use special equipment to pull seven-year-veteran Eydelmen Mani from his wrecked patrol car in northwest Houston. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support before he died.
