PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA’S NAME GETS ADDED TO TEXAS CURRICULUM!
LAWRENCE ALLEN CELEBRATES A PRESIDENTIAL VICTORY!
The Houston representative on the Texas Board of Education is celebrating a small victory this morning.
Lawrence Allen was successful in getting President Barack Obama’s name included in the state curriculum Thursday night. Initially, the board proposal only read ‘examine the significance of the 2008 Presidential election.’
But every board member wasn’t smiling after last nights meeting in Austin.
Rick Agosto, who represents the San Antonio area, was hot Friday morning. He says the board also approved an amendment that would allow students to study Confederate Generals from the Civil War.
Agosto says, “can you believe we’re going to make children study dead Confederate generals.”
Today the board will have a final vote on the proposed curriculum for social studies, math, and science.
