TAELAH SMITH FOUND IN ALVIN!

BABY GIRL IS SAID TO BE DOING FINE!

Dickinson police have confirmed to FOX 26 News that a 3-year-old girl and her grandfather have been found by officers in Alvin after an Amber Alert was issued in her Saturday morning disappearance.

Taelah Smith was last seen with Wilbert Burton on Baker Drive in Dickinson and are asking for help from the public to find her.

Alvin police found the two missing people alive and not hurt after 10 a.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Victory Lane. An Alvin resident contacted police after recognizing them from the Amber Alert issued on Sunday evening.

Relatives are scheduled to pick up Smith who is in custody of Alvin and Dickinson police. No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation.

Burton, 47, is a registered sex offender whose arrest was based on a 1989 incident involving an adult woman. He was only identified by police as a missing person and had not been ruled a suspect in Smith’s disappearance.

Burton was supposed to be driving to a friend’s home in La Marque, but never arrived with Smith as scheduled.
