THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS CONVENTION IS IN FULL SWING!
THE BIG HEADLINER: SHIRLEY SHERROD’S APPEARANCE!
Hundreds of journalists from all over the country have arrived in San Diego this week. They’re in town for the annual National Association of Black Journalist Convention.
It’s an opportunity for journalists to hone their craft, learn new skills, network, and find future job opportunities.
The biggest draw this year was an appearance by former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod. She spoke frank and openly with journalists at a open discussion early Thursday morning. Sherrod also accepted the apology from CNN commentator Roland Martin. He publicly criticized Sherrod when only a portion of her NAACP speech was leaked by a Conservative blogger.
The convention will continue through Sunday with a long list of panels including one that will include the Insite as a speaker.
Reports indicate the attendance is far better than 2009. The host hotel, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, is acutally sold out which is good news for the organization.
