WOULD YOU ROB A BANK WITH A MAN-PURSE?

THE LATEST ACCESSORY FOR THE CRIMINAL ON THE STREET!

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force needs your help in identifying a man who robbed the Chase bank located at 8384 Westheimer in Houston, Texas, on September 18, 2010.

At approximately 9:57 a.m., the man entered the bank and approached a teller.  While handing the teller a threatening demand note, the robber verbally announced that it was a robbery.  He then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the teller.  He handed the teller a dark colored bag described as a “man-purse” and asked the teller to fill it up.  The teller complied and provided the robber with some cash.  He exited the bank and was seen getting into a beige or gold colored compact Toyota driven by another man.  No one was physically hurt.  The bank’s surveillance cameras captured some pictures of the man during the robbery.

The robber is described as a black male, late 30s, approximately 5’8”-5’9”, about 180-190 pounds with a slim build.  Witnesses said he had “sunken cheeks” on both sides of his face.  During the robbery, he wore a baseball cap backwards, rhinestone sunglasses and a button-down work shirt with sweatpants.  He also carried what witnesses described as a dark colored “man-purse” and a semi-automatic handgun.

The getaway driver is described as a white male who drove a gold or beige compact Toyota, possible a late 90s model.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of these robbers, or any felony suspect.  If you have information about this crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

LOUISIANA MAN INDICTED FOR HATE CRIME!

CHRISTOPHER MONTGOMERY WANTED TO SCARE BLACK STUDENTS!

A federal grand jury has indicted Christopher Shane Montgomery, a resident of Bastrop, Louisiana, for conspiring to commit a hate crime, tampering with a witness, and lying to federal authorities, announced the Justice Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana. If convicted of these charges, Montgomery faces up to 40 years in prison.

The four-count indictment alleges that on or about Nov. 6, 2007, Montgomery and another person not identified in the indictment tied a noose around the neck of a dead raccoon and hung the raccoon and noose from a flagpole at Beekman Junior High School in Bastrop in order to intimidate African-American students attending the school under a court-ordered busing policy. Montgomery is also charged for lying on two occasions to an FBI agent investigating the hate crime and for tampering with a witness during the investigation.

This case is being investigated by the FBI. This case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorney Kevonne Small of the Civil Rights Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Mudrick of the Western District of Louisiana.
An indictment is only an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

IS ANIMAL PRINT IN OR OUT THIS YEAR?

FOX 26 ANCHOR DAMALI KEITH HITS THE RUNWAY!

My colleague Damali Keith (pictured here in a silk David Meister gown for a charity fashion show) tells me animal print is in this season. I’m a Ralph Lauren non-animal print guy, myself, but what do you think? Are women taking a walk on the wild side? Is animal print “in” or not on human skin?

The weekend ended with a barbecue thrown by McKinley graduate Bryan Keith McCall. Dozens of people turned out for the free eats and a chance to fellowship with old classmates. Some of the people who attended: Cedric Roberts, Fayland King, Keith Alexander, Monica Vincent, Angela Lewis, Karla Booker, Michael Gildon, and there was even a surprise appearance by nationally know rapper Mystikal. SUPPORTERS OF MCKINLEY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TURNOUT FOR HOMECOMING!

THE BIG GAME: I JUST DON’T KNOW THE SCORE!

The Insite was among hundreds of people who showed up for the big homecoming game at McKinley Senior High School in Baton Rouge Friday night. It’s where I attended high school and was the voice for the morning anouncements. The Panthers took on Woodlawn High School for the big event. Despite the incredible show of support I think the other side won. It was hot outside even at night so I didn’t stay for the whole game.  But what’s most important is the alumni turning out to support the school and currents students in the community. Hundreds, possibly thousands of pas McKinley graduates were in attendance.  Here are some of the pictures the Insite snapped at the game. Shout out to: Juanita and Darlene Ford, Simone Harrell, Monica Vincent and Reginald Williams…Do you know what the final and official score was?

LATIL STATIONERY WAS KINKO’S BEFORE KINKO’S IN BATON ROUGE!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO THIS STORE IN BATON ROUGE?

The Insite is very saddened to learn a long time business I frequented in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has shut down.
That business is Latil Stationery. It has been located in the downtown area on Third Street for more than 30 years.
The store provided everything from engraved wedding invitations to personalized napkins for your dinner table.
When I drove by the store Friday night I noticed it was shut down.
There was a banner in the window thanking customers for their support over the years.
However, that message did not indicate why the owners decided to close the store.
I also did a Google search and was unsuccessful in finding a reason for the closure.
But one thing is clear, the store that was Kinko’s before Kinko’s is now gone for good!

DID THE HOUSTON COP ONLY PRETEND TO ARREST A WIFE BEATER?

Fox 26 news and The Inside have learned a Houston cop is the target of an internal probed after allegations he allowed a man accused of beating his wife to walk free. Sources tell us that officer was called to the scene of a domestic abuse case last Friday night. The officer who we’re not identifying pretended to arrest the male suspect but later released him. That suspect according to our sources then contacted the female victim again that night and told her he was never actually arrested. Once HPD learned of the incident they actually arrested the suspect on Sunday. A spokesman for the department confirmed the probe but would only say the officer is being investigated for conduct.
