|Craig Joseph Sr., Owner – Houston’s This Is It|
The disappointment Craig Joseph Sr. feels is expected and understandable. For 50 years his family has owned and operated This Is It soul food restaurant in Houston.
It has been located on West Gray in the midtown area for most of that time. Back in July Joseph decided to move his business to the Third Ward on Blodgett.
He says, “it’s discouraging because I moved here to help revitalize the Third Ward.” That effort by the African American business owner was met with a slap in the face.
The Insite has learned the business started by Joseph’s grandparents was burglarized at 3 am Monday morning.
Joseph says the suspects were three Black males in their early twenties. They came in through a door by popping a lock with a crow bar. They trashed a cash register they thought had money and ran off in a matter of minutes with a flat screen television instead.
Joseph says it’s difficult being victimized by his own people after moving into the community he wanted to help.
Here’s the good news: surveillance cameras were rolling on the whole incident. The Insite will keep you updated!
