HOUSTON’S AND THE COUNTRY’S OLDEST POLICE OFFICER HOSPITALIZED!

91 year old Edward Thomas has the honor of being the oldest police officer in America. And we as Houstonians are lucky to have him working right here at the Houston Police Department.  The sad news is Mr. Thomas was hospitalized over the weekend.  He reported being disoriented while also having a blood pressure problem.  He was taken to a local hospital where HPD spokesman Victor Senties says he’s listed in stable condition.  Thomas joined the Houston Police department back in April of 1948.  The media shy veteran of the force began his service to the community during a time when he wasn’t allowed to drive a police unit.  Things have really changed.  Now, Thomas can be seen on any given day at HPD headquarters at 1200 Travis in downtown Houston or out in the community driving his own police unit.  Mr. Thomas, we wish you well in your recovery!
