The Insite attended a press conference in north Houston Wednesday. It was held by the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearm office.
The feds warned Houstonians not to use their good name to buy guns for someone who can’t or simply won’t use their own backgroun. It’s called a straw purchase.
The ATF launched a national campaign because many of the guns obtained through a straw purchase are likely used in crimes.
Federal investigators say firearms sold in Houston are also turning up in Mexico where we know crime is exploding as a result of the drug cartels.
If you’re caught buying a gun for someone else it could get you ten years behind bars!
