Since it’s inception, KTSU 90.9 FM Radio Station has been a constant pulse which beats life producing musical vibes throughout the Third Ward, The City of Houston and the World by way of the internet and the word of travelers who come in contact with this beautiful thing we have in Houston and go back and tell others they meet about “Jazz In All It’s Colors” and a whole lot more!!!
The Insite ran into Bernadette Benichou at Memorial Park in Houston. She says she’s been jogging there for the last 15 years.
Benichou says to see the damage caused by the drought was heartbreaking and that’s why she came up with an idea to make use of those dead or dying trees.
The avid jogger says she’s ready to put $1,000 of her own money behind the idea. So what is it?
Take listen to it on the Insite video below.
I’ve already forwarded the details of the proposal to the City of Houston Park’s Department.
What do you think of stumps along the jogging trail in Memorial?
If you wake up before 10 am and listen to 97.9 FM then you’ll likely know her voice. She is Nnete.
She’s part of the Madd Hatta Morning show.
Nnete is a member of the early morning urban show team.
She’s also the no nonsense interviewer who takes on top notch entertainers like Kelly Rowland in compelling and confrontational interviews.
But the local talent is now in the midst of taking the next step in her career.
Nnete has ventured into the world of comedy. She now considers herself an up and coming stand-up comedian.
Nnete says, “I’ve always admired the guts and whits of Stand-up comics and the ability to share their unique perspective about life.”
Just this week the University of Houston graduate opened for a group of veteran comedians at the Improv in Houston.
It was Nnete’s first professional gig even though she’s done lots of open mic nights around the city.
The Insite has already seen rave reviews on Twitter and Facebook about Nnete’s Thursday night appearance.
She says, “in January, my college friend Comedian Billy Sorrells, who I hosted a stepshow with in 2006 in San Marcos, encouraged me to stop waiting, seize the moment, and get on stage.”
That moment has officially been seized. But a shocking influence in Nnete’s decision was a man who comes from comedy royalty.
That man is Charlie Murphy, the brother of comedian Eddie Murphy.
Nnete says, “I started working out my material at various open mics and functions, then Comedian/Actor Charlie Murphy invited me to open a show for him at the Improv and I’ve been hooked ever since.”
And the rest is history…but Nnete’s comedic career is just getting started and preparing to take Houston by storm!

|Matt Johnson aka The Rapping Reporter!|
One of my friends from Little Rock told me I had to meet this new reporter he works with in Arkansas.
KATV photographer Ray Hamilton says that reporter is his co-worker Matt Johnson.
I had a chance to meet Matt in Philadelphia during an annual journalist convention and was thoroughly impressed with his rap skills.
He offered the Insite a sweet deal – if I get him signed I’d get 40%.
Anyone out there looking for an up and coming rapper who happens to be a tv reporter.
Take a listen at Matt in action on MattaFact:
UPDATE: JONES APPARENTLY HAS PAID HER FEES WITHIN THE LAST HOUR AND NOW SHE’S REINSTATED AS A LICENSED ATTORNEY!
I hit the Hardy Toll Road early Thursday morning hoping it would get me to work on time because of the delays on the freeway.
In my hurry I failed to notice that I didn’t have enough silver coins…So, I opted for what I did have in my car. Pennies. Lots of pennies.
In fact, I had just enough pennies to get me through the entire stretch of the Hardy Toll Road.
However, when I dropped my 93 pennies into the machine I noticed it only registered 90.
In my book that means I was jacked by the toll road. Harris County owes me some change.
As a result of my financial loss I called the toll road system Thursday afternoon. A customer service rep first told me pennies are not allowed because the toll coin machines are not set up to count pennies.
Then I thought about the 90 pennies the machine did accept.
That rep then said it was against the rules. What rules? Then she said the machines don’t accept pennies, so if you deposit them you’re just stuck out because they won’t register.
Stuck out? I just want my 3 cents back from the county because money is money.
What do you think?
It’s rare you get a detailed look in the life of the wealthy…today you do. Houston prominent physician Dr. Craig Fischer has filed a lawsuit against the woman he says played him.
According to the Harris County lawsuit Dr. Fischer, who practices at Methodist, says he was engaged to Nichole L. Johnson.
He says as part of his proposal he bought Johnson a 4 carat $73,000 diamond ring.
Fischer also alleges he leased his fiancee a $50,000 a year apartment and placed $25,000 in her bank account at Bank of America. He says after that she cheated on him and broke off the engagement.
Dr. Fischer says Johnson also told lies about him on Facebook claiming he stalked her.
Fischer filed a lawsuit against Johnson hoping to recover his ring, money, and his tarnished reputation!
The final report on Council Member Jolanda Jones is now public after an investigation by a group of elected officials at Houston’s City Hall!
It details how Jones used her city telephone, staffers, and resources to benefit her private law practice.
That panel that included Mayor Annise Parker, Councilman C.O. Bradford and Council Member Sue Lovell all agreed this was a matter that was serious but should not be taken to the full city council for disciplinary action.
As you already know the Harris County District Attorney’s office also refused to investigate Jones on these charges.
But the three member panel did meet with Jones to ask her to write a statement acknowledging her actions.
She has also agreed to change her ‘Know Your Rights With Police’ card to remove the city council office number on it.
Jones will conduct additional ethics training for her and her staff, take steps to ensure separation of her private business from her council office.
She must also have a record showing any of her staff who drives her to court is not on city time.
No comment from Jones just yet!
The Insite served as emcee Wednesday night at Texas Southern University for a very educational event designed to open eyes.
The political action committee called Key Pac and the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha came together to present the Texas Legislative Update.
Members of the audience had a chance to hear from high profile Texas State Representatives Harold Dutton, Ron Reynolds, Alma Allen, and Senfronia Thompson.
From the budget shortfall to education funding, nothing was off the table with a very frank and open forum for the public.
The event was organized by Key Pac Chairman Felix Chevalier and AKA Chapter President Tamara Cubit.
The guest panelists and yours truly were all presented with goody bags at the end of the event.
Thanks Felix for the 2 piece Tuesday special on a Wednesday night. You forgot my biscuit!
It was at big day at the Houston Police Department. This comes as Chief Charles McClelland and Mayor Annise Parker welcome the newest cops on the streets of Houston. Tuesday night HPD graduated 65 cadets from Class #210. They are now officially police officers. Those new cops will help plug that hole in the aging force where hundreds of officers are expected to retire over the next few years. The graduates just completed a rigorous 26-week training regimen and will be added to patrol stations throughout the city to help respond to citizens’ calls!
