The NBA has locked the players out, but that doesn’t mean they can’tcompete on another court. That’s why John Lucas is hosting the “Houston LockoutCelebrity Basketball Game”, Sunday, November 20th, at 5pm at Delmar Stadium.
Lucas hasconfirmed more than 20 current players including Chicago Bulls guard DerrickRose, Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry, Minnesota Timberwolves forwardMichael Beasley and Houston Rockets players Luis Scola, Chandler Parsons, JonnyFlynn and Kyle Lowry. NBA Hall ofFamer Moses Malone and seven-time NBA Champion Robert Horry will serve ascoaches.
Thepre-game action includes an exhibition game with 8th grade AAUteams, The Texas Cagers and Houston Select. Local contemporary gospel trio‘Soulfruit’ will sing the National Anthem and the dance team Wyld Styl will performat half time. The game will alsobe broadcast live on KCOH Radio and KCOHRadio.com with NBA Hall of Famer CalvinMurphy and Veteran sportscaster Ralph Cooper calling the action.
“We’reexcited about the entire lineup especially the radio broadcast with CalvinMurphy and Ralph Cooper,” Lucas said. “Players are coming in from around theNBA to participate and they’re coming on their own dime. It should be a greatweekend and a great game!” Proceeds from the game will benefit charitiesincluding the John Lucas Foundation (JLF), which helps athletes who need aftercare or wellness services and programs.
Lucas says they will also honor Houston area high schoolplayers who have signed letters of intent to play in college. “Derrick Rosewill not play but he will be a part of honoring the high school players..
