Some Houston community activists say they’ve had enough of the unfair sentences and deals cut by prosecutors in Harris County.
That’s why Deric Muhammad has called for a town hall meeting in Houston this week.
Muhammad says there’s been a huge disparity between the plea deals cut for those who have the public trust like police officers versus regular citizens.
The activists is also concerned how some police officers allegedly treat minority residents in the northeast end of town.
The town hall meeting is schedule this week.
It comes on the heels on the deal reached between prosecutors and a Houston Police officer who was arrested for shaking down illegal immigrants during traffic stops.
The meeting will be held Thursday, January 26th at Phoenix Youth Outreach Center at 2606 Gregg Street. Kick off is schedule to begin at 7:30 pm.
