Update: Harris County resident Amanda Lynn Woods, born 9/1/1989, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and two counts of intoxicated assault with a vehicle in this case. Her mug shot is attached to this e-mail.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Woods told them she had been drinking in a bar in Humble before the crash. A witness said her truck was traveling about 80 mph when it collided with another vehicle.
Release of the name of the driver killed in the crash is pending notification of kin.
INTOXICATION CHARGES PENDING IN DEADLY CRASH THIS MORNING
(HOUSTON TX) –Charges of intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault are pending against a 22-year-old woman who caused a motor vehicle crash that killed one person and injured two others today at Tomball Parkway and Boudreaux Road in far northwest Harris County.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the suspect had a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit when the crash took place around 4 a.m., shortly after she left work at a billiards hall in the area. She was taken to Tomball Regional Hospital after suffering a broken wrist.
The suspect was northbound on Tomball Parkway in a Chevrolet truck when she failed to stop for a red light and rear-ended a four-door Kia, which in turn struck an eastbound Toyota Celica, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the Kia was dead on impact. Identification of the driver is pending.
The driver of the Toyota was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital. A passenger was taken to Tomball Regional Hospital. They had non-life threatening injuries.
