Members of the Houston Police Officers’ Union are hot after learning about a new drug testing policy.

Ray Hunt, HPOU’s President, says the Houston Police Department will now require officers to be escorted to their

drug testing site.

Officers say if they’re randomly chosen to take a screening then the must be personally escorted by their Sergeant.

Hunt says this will be a tremendous waste of manpower and resources.

Officers say the departments line of thinking is to make sure know one try and dilute their results by drinking to0 much water on their way to the screening.

The Insite has learned the union’s newsletter will blast the department for the drug testing policy change.

I’ve also placed calls to HPD and a spokesperson there is working on a written response!

I think this is a great way to make a positive, strong enforcement of change; No new recruits needed. Don’t hire more police. Re-EDUCATE those within. And what about internal affairs. There should be a public office outside of law that should be judging those sworn to protect us.
