I was reading through the lawsuit that’s been filed by the management at Houston’s House of Blues. It targets The Pavilion and singer Scott Gertner. The lawsuit alleges Gertner’s new nightspot also in the Pavilion violates the lease agreement the entertainment complex has with the House of Blues. In other words, Gertner’s nightspot could harm business at HOB.
Anyway, what I thought was interesting in the public documents is the amount HOB hands out each month for the rental of their space in the Pavilion.
According to court records and the suit HOB pays the Pavilion $70,833 a month for the first five years then it increases by $7,000 more in the sixth year and so on. $70,000 can get you a nice small house somewhere in Houston. I guess it’s the kind of rent only a major corporation could afford unless you’re doing gang-buster business!

Now I know why they stick it to us on the beer prices.
