Barry Copeland is a proud Houston grandfather. He shared with me an incredible story how his grandchild was borning in route to the hospital. Here’s his note to the Insite:
We have two homes in Northwest Harris County – I live in Cypress and have my son maintaining the home in Sommerall. They are about 15 miles apart. On May 7th at about 1:30 AM, my son calls my wife and tells her he is dropping off the kids and taking Chavon to Memorial Hospital so she can be prepared because she is having contractions. I am listening in the background like a good grandpa should and am half sleeping. About 20 minutes later, the front doorbell rings and the kids come running in – Mama C, the baby is in the car! Now, that shocks my system. So I get up. My granddaughter is crying and my wife is out in the driveway. I have them quiet down and decide to go see what is going on. I look into the vehicle and my son is holding a newborn in one hand and his cell phone in his other hand. I am thinking – I know I woke up, but maybe this is a big dream!
So we call the ambulance and they show up and take the mother and baby to the hospital. Man! She (Jaicee Copeland) was born May 7th about 1:50 AM on Tuckerton Road while my son was driving to my house. So he has a vehicle with 3 children, a wife that just delivered and talking to 9-1-1 until he arrives a few minutes later at my house.
Thanks,
Barry B. Copeland, CPA
