Judge Steven Kirkland was elected to the 215th Civil Court back in 2008. In 2012 his fight is likely tougher than he imagined. Kirkland has become the target of a blistering radio campaign where his opponent says he was arrested twice for drinking and driving. Judge Kirkland is fighting back with counter ads and an intense campaign fundraising effort. Here’s the latest email he has sent out to his supporters to hold on to his judicial seat:
Friends,
I have to say that the level of deceit and misrepresentation coming out of my opponent’s campaign is truly shocking – but rest assured we are fighting back.
That’s why I need your help today. We’ve had to increase our communication in the mail, on the radio and on the phones to respond to these unfounded attacks – and I need to raise $25,000 in the next five days to pay for our response ads.
The Houston Chronicle editors were right on the mark when they said, “Particularly given the evidence of chicanery aimed his way, Kirkland deserves Democratic voters’ spirited support.”
