THE PEST CONTROL TECH HAS ARRIVED!

Houston Heights Tower

Some residents at Houston Heights Tower are breathing a sigh of relief today.  Some have called The Insite to say the pest control man began spraying this week.  This comes after tenants at the building, that provides affordable housing to seniors and those with disabilities, was infected by bed bugs.  Houston has become a city where the traveling pesky bugs thrive.  Hope Aguirre told FOX 26 News two weeks ago she was on the problem and it appears she has kept her word.  However, there are some residents who are concerned the bugs may come back because a lot of those in units where the bugs are may keep their close and furniture without fumigating the items first.  We’ll keep you updated but hats off to Hope for getting it done at Houston Heights Tower!

REMEMBER JOSEPH WASHINGTON? HE’S GOING BIG TIME!

It was sometime last year when I first introduced you to Joseph Washington.  He is a Houston based singer who made a tribute song and video to the men and women of the US Armed Forces. That song is called We Thank You. Well, now I’ve learned Joseph is going big time.  He’s been called on to serve as the opening musical act to no less than Kelly Clarkson.  His big performance is scheduled for July the 4th during the Freedom Fest celebration at Fort Hood, Texas.  As a result of that success I wanted to give you a second look at Washington’s incredible video.  Way to go Joseph!

WAY TO GO: EMILY GETS NEW HAIR!

It was just a few weeks ago when FOX 26 introduced you to little Emily Freeman.  She was one of several young patients from Texas Children’s Hospital recording a soon to be released charity song.  It was part of the Purple Songs Can Fly Project.  As a result of Emily suffering from cancer she lost most of her hair after her medical treatment.  Well, the good news is Leah Hamilton with Tom Magliaro’s Hair Additions says her organization has donated Emily a new head of hair.  I just wanted to say congratulations and wish Emily the best.  Here’s part of the email from Leah:

Hello Isiah,

Do you remember Emily Freeman? (One of the teens at Texas Childrens Hospital who is recording a song for the Purple Songs Can Fly Project at ZapBoomBam studios?)  Well we just donated a new head of hair to Emily.  She is so happy, looking even more adorable, and feeling oh so sassy!  Take a look at some of the shots her mom just forwarded to us.  It was such a joy for our entire staff to work with Emily.  Her sunny disposition and amazing resilience inspired us all. If anyone deserves it, she does. We were happy to add to her success story and I wanted to share it you and possibly your viewers.

Thanks!

LESSON OF THE DAY: DON’T COLLECT SOCIAL SECURITY FROM YOUR DEAD MOTHER!

A Conroe area resident has been charged with one count of theft of government property in connection with Social Security benefits paid on behalf of a woman believed to be his mother, United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced today. The indictment was returned yesterday against Kline Fisher Budd, 80, a resident of Montgomery County in the Conroe area.
According to the indictment, the SSA began to investigate the whereabouts of Willa Mae Shaughnesy in December 2010 when her date of birth, as listed on Social Security records, suggested she would have been more than 104-years-old. The state of Texas produced a death certificate for Shaughnesy, believed to be Budd’s mother, which confirmed she died in November 1984.

Further investigation revealed that Shaughnesy’s Social Security Benefits were paid by electronic deposit directly into her bank account. The indictment indicated this was a joint account Shaughnesy held with Budd and he was the only other person authorized to sign on her account. Budd allegedly made withdrawals on this account on a monthly basis.

The indictment alleges that between December 1984 and December 2010, the SSA paid benefits monthly for Shaughnesy totaling more than $231,000.

The investigation of this case was conducted by the SSA – Office of Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorney Cedric L. Joubert is prosecuting the case.

The Insite has learned the attorney who is suing a nationally known gospel singer has been receiving death threats.

It was earlier this week when we first reported James Fortune was slapped with a lawsuit for physical child abuse.

The lawsuit claims Fortune submerged his then 4 year old son in a tub full of scalding water back in 2001.

The attorney who represents the now 15 year old victim says she’s been getting death threats at her law office.

Attorney Toni Jones says she’s received several threatening phone calls since she filed the lawsuit on behalf of her client against Fortune.

Jones says, “my concern is just about the kid.”

She went on to say, “I’m not worried about (threats) that.”

TRYING TO SERVE JAMES FORTUNE THE LAWSUIT

In the meantime, Jones says she has not been able to serve Fortune or his attorney the lawsuit.

She says Harris County Constables have gone to the gospel singers home three times and have n0t been able to get him to accept the document.

Jones says until he is served this matter can’t be put to rest!

ANOTHER HOUSTONIAN VICTIMIZED BY WHEEL THEFTS!

image

When Houstonians Rdginald Gales walked out of his home on Balfour he got the shock of his life.

He realized he was the latest victim of wheel thieves.

Gales says his SUV was the latest to be hit in his area.

He says, “we normally have constable coverage in the neighborhood, but apparently they don’t patrol on Mondays…..hopefully you can put the buzz out there even more.”

Have you been hit by wheel thieves in Houston too?

If so email your picture of your vehicle and a description of what happened to isiahcarey@gmail.com!
