Some Houston volunteers are continuing their effort to end the illegal dumping of animals near Crosby.
That effort includes a new billboard that warns people it is against the law to dump their pets.
Rhonda Heffernan says it’s been happening for over a year.
They’re calling it the Crosby Puppy Massacre.
It’s an area near highway 90 at the San Jacinto river where people have discarded their unwanted pets.
Some have been alive and while others were found dead.
Heffernan says the Harris County District Attorney’s Office is also working to install surveillance cameras in the area.
She says that will help with prosecuting individuals who dump there illegally.
People remember – if you don’t want your pet try and adopt it out first or go to a no kill shelter!

Thank you very much for writing about the billboard. We believe it will help make many positive changes to help stop animal cruelty and abandonment in Harris County. Anyone wanting more information on how to support the billboard and the anti animal cruelty effort please go to http://www.crosbypuppymassacre.wordpress.com for details. Thanks!
and if the no-kill shelters are full, as they usually are, take it to A SHELTER – it’s not an automatic death sentence, and it’s far kinder than abandoning your pet.
