Red dragons, classic teddy bears and dressed-up barn animals are among the new fuzzy companions that will help comfort kids found in difficult and confusing situations responded to by HCSO deputies.

The Sam Houston Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America donated over 200 stuffed animals to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to give to children encountered at traumatic scenes, from a minor traffic accident to a death in the family.

The teddy bears were collected the week of June 4 during the Boy Scout Council’s annual Mustang District Cub Scout Day Camp, held at Houston Farm & Ranch, located at 1 Abercrombie Drive.
Approximately 300 campers attend the event every year.
