You remember back in the 1980′s when the #1 soda company in the world came out with an ingenious idea called New Coke? That didn’t last long because people wondered why fix what’s not broken. New Coke quickly disappeared.
Remember when our favorite producer George Lucas decided to release a movie on the heels of the success of his Star Wars franchise? That movie was Howard the Duck. It was panned by critics and dismissed by the viewing public. It was a bad idea.
Remember when CBS News came up with the smart idea of putting Connie Chung and Dan Rather on the anchor desk together in 1993? People hated it. Connie Chung was last seen as a judge in the 2011 Miss Universe contest.
None of those ideas compare to what Adidas did this month. They decided to release a sneaker with shackles on them. You remember that just yesterday? After public outrage the company decided to scrap the idea. The shoe that was scheduled for release in August will never see the light of day. One person on my Facebook page described not so much as racial but simply ridorkulous. I love that word!
