THE NAACP NATIONAL CONVENTION TAKES OVER HOUSTON, TEXAS!

Prepare for a long list of big wigs to make a stop in Houston through next week.  That’s because the NAACP is kicking off it’s 103rd National Convention right here in our backyard.  Everyone from presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney to Julian Bond will address the group.  Here’s more from thje organization:

The NAACP will celebrate 103 years of civil rights advocacy by holding its annual national convention in Houston, Texas.  The convention will feature dozens of events, including remarks from Attorney General Eric Holder, Representatives Al Green, Emanuel Cleaver II, and Shelia Jackson Lee, and Houston Mayor Annise D. Parker.

 

Additionally, as part of its historic relationship with the electoral process, the NAACP has invited both the presidential nominees from both major parties—Democratic Nominee President Barack Obama and Republican Nominee Governor Mitt Romney.

 

On Friday, July 6, NAACP leaders and convention speakers will preview the week’s events at an opening press conference.
