Congratulations to the new brass at the Houston Police Department.

Chief Charles McClelland promoted Mattie Provost to assistant police chief and Larry Baimbridge to captain.

Provost has been with HPD since 1985 while Baimbridge joined the force in 1992.

You deserve it, Larry. What a joke, Mattie. Just like with John Chen, the only qualification for this promotion was right sex/right race.

So Shameful. Hope you’re just a reader and not one of the organizational terrorists found in so many agencies across the country. This young woman truly distinguished herself and the HPD while attending the 241st Session of the FBI National Academy and I would venture to say, accelled above many who deemed themselve’s more qualified for position she now holds. Embrace the appointment of your colleague who is esteemed by many in the international pool of law enforcement professionals. Comments like yours really undermine the professionalism of the HPD and everything the appointee embodied while representing the Houston law enforcement arena. The World is watching and reading. WAKE UP!!

To the disgruntal person who chose to voice their opinion, before you put your foot in your mouth next time, think before you type and do your research. M.A. Wilson, put things quite nicely above! Chief Provost’s promotion was apointed by the Chief of Police, therefore if you have a problem, he has an open door policy. She is a wonderful and accomplished woman and neither race nor sex had anything to do with it. Focus on yourself and better who you are before you decide to show negativity toward others!
