It’s rare when votes just disappear into thin air. That’s what happened to Zerick Guinn in his bid for Harris County Constable in Precinct 2. Guinn supporters say around midnight he led his opponent by at least 500 votes with a majority of the precincts being counted. But election watchers say as the clock moved past midnight those 500 votes disappeared from Guinn’s column. The other candidate Chris Diaz, whose vote count went up by an additional 150 people, won the election. Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart says it was a technical error and a mistake between Reliant Center where the vote boxes are dropped off and the Clerk’s office where they are counted. Guinn has not said if he will challenge the process.
