OFFICERS SUSPENDED OVER ALLEGED TICKET WRITING SCHEME!

FOX 26 NEWS AND THE INSTIE HAVE LEARNED FOUR HOUSTON POLICE OFFICERS HAVE BEEN PUNISHED IN AN ALLEGED TICKET WRITING SCHEME.

SOURCES SAY CHIEF CHARLES MCCLELLAND DIDN’T FIRE HIS BIGGEST TICKET WRITERS BUT SUSPENDED THEM.

THEIR PUNISHMENT RANGES FROM 45 TO 20 DAYS OFF THE JOB.

ONE OF THOSE COPS IS HOUSTON’S BIGGEST TICKET WRITER OFFICER MATT DAVIS. OUR SOURCES SAY HE’S RECEIVED 30 DAYS SUSPENSION.

THE OFFICERS WERE ACCUSED OF SIGNING ON TO EACH OTHERS TICKETS TO BEEF UP THEIR OWN OVERTIME.

CHIEF MCCLELLAND DIDN’T TAKE THE ADVICE OF A CIVILIAN COMMITTEE THAT RECOMMENDED TERMINATING THE OFFICERS.

HPD HAS YET TO RESPOND.

Note: There’s been some public outcry after the Insite reported the chief’s decision. This is from my Facebook page!

Houston has a Citizens Review Committee (CRC) that should be disbanded.
Yes HPD officers were bad, got caught and were suspended.

As one who years ago served an a suburban Alderman and Delegate to HGAC (1999/2001), I understand the “So Called community Activist CRC” is a waste of time, and will never have a legal standing on HPD policy .

Again YES a few HPD officers were naughty, and were suspended.
To be clear the Houston Citizens Review Committee is a mistake, lacks legal standing and needs to be disbanded before it wastes anymore time and money
