Dozens of people came out to the Houston Police Officers’ Union Friday to support veteran officer Linda Reichert.
She was diagnosed with cancer back in December. The 26 year veteran says she never thought she’d be stricken with the illness.
Linda, a single parent, says while she has insurance but the expenses associated with her cancer has been overwhelming.
That’s why she can smile Friday as a result of the union throwing her a fundraiser.
Houston businessman Alan Helfman and Georgia Provost contributed to the effort by holding an auction at the event.
HPOU President Ray Hunt says if members of the public would like to contribute to officer Reichart all they have to do is call the HPOU.
