Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an incident in which an off-duty Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable discharged his duty weapon at 13484 Northwest Freeway about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 9). The suspect, Leslie Charles Wilson (w/m, DOB: 10-2-72), is charged with evading arrest/detention in a motor vehicle in the 174th State District Court.  A second suspect, a 39-year-old female, was arrested and charged with Class C shoplifting/theft. A photo of suspect Wilson, who was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound, is not available at this time. The Harris County Precinct 4 deputy who discharged his duty weapon was not injured in this incident. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rohling and Officer J. Harvey reported: The deputy constable was in full uniform and working an extra job at a Walmart at the above location when he was approached by an employee who told him Wilson and a female companion, who just exited the store, had stolen some merchandise.  The deputy then attempted to detain both suspects.  The female complied.  However, WIlson fled and got into a late model GMC Acadia sport utility vehicle.  The deputy gave Wilson repeated verbal commands to stop, which he ignored.  Wilson then reached under the seat of his vehicle as if reaching for a weapon.  Fearing for his life, the Harris County Precinct 4 deputy discharged his duty weapon several times and struck the vehicle.  Wilson then reversed his vehicle, struck an adjacent vehicle, which struck a pregnant female bystander in the parking lot and then fled the scene.  The female bystander was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with minor injuries. Wilson was later seen by HPD patrol officers in the 10200 block of Bamboo Road.  As officers attempted to take him into custody, Wilson fled on foot.  As officers pursued Wilson on foot, he turned and struggled with the officers.  At some point, officers deployed a Conducted Energy Device (CED) and were able to take Wilson into custody.  It was then determined Wilson had suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg in the original incident at 13484 Northwest Freeway.  Wilson was then taken to the hospital. As is customary in officer-involved shootings in the city limits involving other law enforcement agencies, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division.
