It was last week when we reported se Houston workers were transported to New Orleans to work for a Houston based temporary staffing company.
They say their job was to help in the relief effort in the Crescent City.
However, after several days some of the workers say they found themselves with little to do, no food, and some were even fired.
When they arrived back in Texas last Thursday their biggest concern was compensation.
The temp staffers were not sure if they were going to be paid for their work and time.
After our report the workers say officials at the company promised to pay them.
Here’s an email from Osie Esparza.
She is the one who made the original plea to Fox 26 for help:
After speaking to Mr. Sutherland on the phone this morning, he assured me that everyone would be paid for their work and travel time. We spoke for some time addressing the issues and concerns we had. I feel that Mr. Sutherland is going to stand by his word and uphold his side of the contract. He explanied to me that we would all be paid by Wednesday.
If for any reason we are not paid by then, I will follow up with you and legal represention.
