The US Justice Department conducted a nationwide roundup for people accused of Medicare fraud.
Six people were arrested Thursday in Houston at Riverside General Hospital.
This came after allegations the executives and employees concocted a scheme to over bill the government.
Nigerian National arrested for Medicare Fraud
Four Nigerian nationals were also arrested in Houston on a sealed indictment out of Dallas.
The four defendants are accused of conspiring to defraud the federal government as well.
But what was more interesting: all of the defendants said they were flat broke.
Two male suspects in the case said they had $1.75 and $8 respectively in their bank accounts.
A 68 year old female was holding the most bank with $500 in her personal account.
It left many in federal court wondering if they all conspired and took part in a Medicare fraud scheme where is the money now?
All the defendants qualified for a court appointed attorney.
