When I think of entertainers performing at concerts never did I imagine that ‘some’ performers would have to pay for that spot.
Apparently, I was very wrong.
It appears in some venues those who are desperate to get on stage can actually pay to be heard.
I received a press release showing the price range to perform at a local event in Houston.
It blew me away that someone would pay to share their talents but we live in a different age now.
What do you think?

Update: Apparently, the organizer is upset about the posting of this release I received via email. This comes after it was sent to me as a member of the news media. The organizer denies it was a press release. In the meantime, I was sent a string of tweets explaining the purpose of these performance packages as shown below.
Kelly: Really Isiah??? Did you even try to ask questions before posting this article? You know me personally!! I’m an open book!
Kelly: That stage costs 15k+ to even put on. the door isn’t ours. The only way that stage happens is through sponsorships/packages.
Kelly: So guess what? We put our necks on the line, put in hard work to provide the opp. & STILL every year we come out in the red.
Kelly: But the way we do it .. artists can get a huge look (for ones that participate usually the biggest they’ve ever had)…
Kelly: for a FRACTION of the cost of what it would take for them to do it on their own.
Kelly: The only way the stage even happens is through packages and sponsorship. & we STILL make up the diff every year
