I had a chance to speak with the mother of Joshua Wood this week.

He is the 22 year old Houston man who was shot and killed by three men in December.

Investigators say the suspects, who are all behind bars, wanted to rob Wood of his new Nike Air Jordan sneakers he’d just purchased.

That mother, who didn’t want to be identified, said she wanted officials with the multi billion dollar shoe company to respond to the deaths and violence associated with the popular sneakers.

She says she also wants to start a letter writing campaign to the company.

The grief stricken mother says she wants  to make Nike aware that the community is not turning a blind eye to the senseless violence that erupts during the release of the shoes.

Wood’s mother also says she feels Nike executives just sit in their offices and ignore incidents like her son’s death.

I attempted to get a comment from officials the shoe company and they said they would get back to me with a statement.

Note: Wood is survived by a son who’s now being raised by his mother.

I will keep you updated!
