There has been lots of media coverage on the closing of a major retailer in downtown Houston.

That store is the Macy’s on Main.

But what I haven’t heard a lot about is the closure of the neighboring Popeye’s chicken.

What happened?

I’ve placed a call to the downtown management district to get an answer.

As soon as I find out I will post it because I’m outraged!

UPDATE: Management of the building (Boxer Property) where the Popeye’s was located in downtown Houston said they are not allowed to give out any information in reference to the fast food business or the structure.  That rep who took my call also told the Factor the last reporter who called their firm mislead an agent.  He says that person who worked for a local publication claimed to be someone he was not for the sole purpose of getting information for their report.  Shame on that reporter!

Downtown Management District’s Response:

…I believe Popeye’s closed because of redevelopment plans for the building.  You will need to contact the building owner/management for more specific information and/or comments…

That has been closed for several months. It can’t mean that much to you if you are just now getting to it.

I forgot to add, that the closure had to do with the building. They are not renewing leases. It looks like they are going to redo or tear down that building.
