More than 1 million passengers are expected to travel through George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport for the Memorial Weekend which kicks off on Wednesday, May 22 and runs through Wednesday, May 29.

The busiest days at Bush Intercontinental will be Thursday, Friday and Monday with more than 100,000 passengers traveling each of those days.

For Hobby Airport, Thursday, Friday and Tuesday are the busiest with up to 14,000 passengers per day.

In order to expedite your travel and decrease congestion on the roads near the airport, here are some tips from the Houston Airport System.


When you are picking up your family and friends, please utilize our FREE cell phone lots. There are now two at Bush Airport, one on Will Clayton and a NEW location on John F. Kennedy Blvd. (Please allow about 30 minutes for the plane to taxi to the gate and passengers to walk to the arrival areas.)

 If you are traveling, please add at least 30 minutes to your itinerary in order to park and get through the security lines. You can track the wait times on our homepage at

Children 12 years and under can now go through the checkpoint with their shoes on.

As a REMINDER, if you are picking up a passenger, please do not leave your vehicle unattended curbside at the terminals.  We will page inside the terminal for the driver and then the vehicle may be towed.
