FEMALE DEPUTY SHERIFFS MOVING UP THE RANKS IN HARRIS COUNTY!

The Harris County Sheriff’s office for the first time has three women on the command staff.

Debra Schmidt, Penny Crianza and Sheila Jones are majors, appointed by Sheriff Adrian Garcia because of their qualifications.

Except for sheriff and chief deputy, major is the highest rank in the 4,200-employee agency.

Debra Schmidt is over the Justice Management Bureau, which includes booking and releasing, bailiffs and inmate transportation.

Penny Crianza is over the Systems Intelligence and Strategic Analysis Bureau.

Sheila Jones is over the Detentions Bureau, which is the inmate housing
part of the jail operation.
