SHOULD HE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED BECAUSE HE SAID ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS PRAY?

This is from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office: Montgomery County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to what was believed to be a burglary in progress at Silver Springs Baptist Church on Dobbin Huffsmith Road on 9-10-13 around 3:00 PM.

When deputies arrived they met with a witness who said that she had been inside the Church with the doors locked and she heard someone trying to break open the front door.

The witness was confronted inside the church by a man who simply stated “came to pray.”  The witness contacted other church staff to ensure that no one should be inside the building, then contacted the Sheriff’s Office then left the building with her three children.

Deputy Uber and his K-9 partner entered the building and the K-9 tracked the suspect to the sanctuary where the suspect was found sitting at a piano.  The suspect was arrested and taken to jail.

There was no property damage to the building or contents and there had been no apparent attempt of theft. The suspect told deputies that he “came to pray” and that he had pulled the door open forcefully to gain entry.

Arrested: Juan Ramon Maldonado  19 yoa  (11-9-93) Magnolia, Texas

It’s sad that he had to break into church to pray. Just because he obviously had problems and unfortunately the church was locked by breaking in he clearly broke the law. With heavy heart I way YES he should’ve been arrested 🙁

I think the police may have been just doing their duty to protect and serve. As long as they were not abusive with him, I think they were right to arrest him for B&E only. Sad that our churches have to be locked up these days….But God hears you anywhere.
