On Tuesday, October 30, 2013, deputies of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division arrested and charged Yuri Lara (DOB 06/27/1979) and Karen lizeth Lara (DOB 12/17/1976) with unauthorized practice of medicine and possession of dangerous drug. Photos of both are attached.

Investigators were called after a 41 year-old female was admitted to a local hospital after her breast enhancements became infectious and abscessed. The victim told deputies she had gone to the Lara’s for numerous cosmetic procedures that include body contouring, breast enhancements, liposuction, and fat injections.

Investigators served a search warrant on the Lara’s residence located at 15800 Cade Court in northwest Harris County. They recovered several medical equipment devices from the residence believed to have been used in illegal medical procedures. There were also vials of the drug Lidocaine, which they used to numb the patients.

HCSO Investigators believe there may be more patients who used the Lara’s for cosmetic or medical procedures. Additional victims are urged to call the HCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau at 713-967-5810.

StoneBridge Church’s response:

We are shocked and deeply saddened by this discovery and resultant crime which occurred on our property.  Our first response is one of prayer for this family as they walk through a horrific tragedy.  Our full cooperation- and the fact that our campus is well-monitored with video surveillance and controlled access through the 1488 entrance- enabled law enforcement to solve this crime most expeditiously.

For the time being, we will temporarily close our disc golf course while we take the time to fully assess the access and safety of our property.  Our church and grounds are an open property as we have intended it to be during church operating hours. It will remain that way because we are confident that we serve the entire community with our campus and it is a place to connect with others, to enjoy time with your family, and a place to know and worship God.

HOUSTON’S ASIAN COMMUNITY WILL PROTEST ABC AND JIMMY KIMMEL!

image

To whom it may concern,

Recently, we have been very disturbed with one of Jimmy Kimmel’s shows, which talked about killing all the Chinese so that the United States does not need to pay back its debts to China.  Moreover, Jimmy asked the kids in the show “Should we allow Chinese to live?” This is extremely inappropriate, discriminatory, and outrageous.

ABC is a well known TV network and a very popular one among Asian American.

Airing this kind of discriminatory shows nationally would mislead children with RACISM and GENOCIDE, and it might have already broken the law.

Therefore, we, the Asian residents in Houston, has planned a protest on this coming Friday, which is well organized, disciplined, and approved by Houston PD as well. We will sincerely appreciate it if media would provide support in broadcasting our appeal to communities as wide as possible, through paper, radio, website and television, as well as lively showing this activity onsite this Friday.

We are standing on a ground of liberty. It is time to fight for our rights especially for Chinese alien group. Let’s say no to Racism and genocide.

The following is our detailed agenda:

1. Time: 12PM-1PM, Friday, Nov 1st, 2013

2. Location: 13 studio, 3310 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77005

3. Activity: Protest ABC/Jimmy Kimmel’s speech of racism and genocide

4. Transportation and parking: one Kroger parking lot is located at the back side of ABC office building, and 3 churches across the street (car pool would be appreciated) Please advise attached map guidance.

5. Protest route: attendants would gather in front of ABC studio, and a presenter would do the protest speech, a hard copy would be submitted to ABC afterward.

Parade start from Bissonnet Street, walk down towards Westchester st and buffalo speedway, then back to ABC front gate on Bissonnet st.

Your support would be a significant endorsement which encourage us move further on the way of rights fighting.

Regards

KEEPING YOUR CHILD SAFE AROUND THE EXPANDING RAIL LINE IN HOUSTON!

image

All elementary schools on Houston’s three new light-rail lines are on board to receive multiple bright-orange copies of METRORail’s Open Your Brain safety book, part of METRO’s nationally acclaimed Think Rail safety program.

“The Open Your Brain book is one of many ways METRO is reaching out to even our youngest neighbors with a strong safety message,” said Mike Martinez, who directs community outreach for METRO’s rail expansion program. “We developed the Think Rail safety program to educate children of all ages, along with parents, teachers and staff, about how to interact with these new light-rail lines.”

All neighborhood libraries in the Houston Public Library system (HPL), along with 26 public and private elementary schools located on the three new lines, have received copies of Open Your Brain – a catchy, rhyming book based on METRO’s award-winning safety video of the same name. With content geared to elementary students it teaches young people important lessons. Elementary schools will have Open Your Brain in each classroom library.  Main school libraries will have copies available for student check out. The book is also available for checkout at the Houston Public Library Downtown Branch, and browsing at all other HPL locations.

METRO’s Think Rail program recently picked up two Grand Awards and two first place awards from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). For more information on the program, visit www.gometrorail.org.

Gomez will be transfered to the Harris County Jail. He is charged with the October 12 capital murder of mobile food vendor Lorenzo Juan Vasquez in northwest Harris County.

An updated mug shot of Gomez is currently not availalble.

IT COULD BE A CLEAN GETAWAY!

image

Houston police and the FBI are looking for three men who robbed a local bank Wednesday morning.

The suspects went into the Wells Fargo bank in the 5200 block of Richmond Avenue and demanded money.

Quick thinking bank employees were able to slip a tracker into the bag of money but now I’m hearing from a reliable source that tracker isn’t working.

image

The suspects were last seen running near a local apartment complex in the area.

If that tracker doesn’t work and if the thieves keep their mouths closed it could turn out to be a clean getaway.

There were no reports of anyone being injured in the heist!

Precinct 4 confirms the search but they did not give specifics or if the suspect had been captured.

HOW’S THAT APPLE IPHONE 5S BATTERY LIFE WORKING OUT?

image

New hardware always seems to have its share of problems, and Apple has confirmed to The New York Times that this time around some iPhone 5S owners are experiencing poor battery performance.

“We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer told the Times in a statement.

“We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”

The Times points out that a defective battery is not the same thing as a “manufacturing issue,” indicating that bad components aren’t necessarily to blame.

Apple declined to state how many phones were impacted, but interest in the iPhone 5S has certainly been intense: between it and the new 5C, Apple sold more than 9 million new iPhones in their first weekend of release. We’ve reached out to Apple for further comment.
