THE BAR THAT GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY!

image

The last thing most people expect from the owner of a bar is giving away all of his profits.

And that’s exactly what one group of owners is doing at a bar in downtown Houston.
image

The friends including businessman Brad Moore decided to open The Charity Bar.

Moore says after the servers and managers are paid all of the profits from the downtown watering hole go to charity.

He says since the Charity Bar has been open for a year they have raised and donated over $300,000 to various charities.

Moore says those charities include veterans, the Boys and Girls Club, Urban Harvest, and Habitat for Humanity just to name a few.

I asked Moore why he and his business partners decided to give up all of their profits he says because it feels good!

Note: The group of business owners formed an organization called OKRA… That stands for Organized Kollaborative on Restaurant Affairs. The group is made up of business owners from the inner loop who decided to concentrate their resources on downtown Houston. One of their efforts is the Charity Bar!

A HOUSTON FAMILY WANTS AN INDEPENDENT PROBE INTO THEIR LOVED ONE’S DEATH!

image

The family of a man shot and killed at a local pharmacy in north Houston is demanding an independent investigation into his death…

Investigators say 37 year old Dante Chavful was at the Walgreens on Antoine and Veteran’s Memorial Saturday night when employees recognized him as someone who passed bad checks.

Deputies with Harris County say an off duty Prairie View police officer, who was working security, tried to stop him and that’s when Chavful ran from the store.

The officer says he tried to taser the the 37 year old and that didn’t work.

The officer also says Chavful tried to run him over in a car in the parking lot of the store…That’s when investigators say Chavful was shot and killed.

Michael and Rasheeda Chavful wants an independent probe!

Family members say they’re not buying it and they want answers.

The investigation into the shooting is currently being handled by the Harris County Sheriff’s office.

THE COUNTDOWN TO NORDSTROM IS UNDERWAY IN THE WOODLANDS!

The construction project underway at The Woodlands Mall is starting to look more and more like the big store on the way.

For the last two years construction crews have been working to build the new Nordstrom in The Woodlands.

The completion date of what used to be Sears is September 2014 according to mall staffers.

It will be the first major high end department store in The Woodlands.

Is this a place you will shop or will Macy’s or Dillard’s be enough?

THE BEST FACTOR FREE WEEKEND ACTIVITY: W.G. JONES STATE PARK!

image

I was surprised when I learned there was an actual forest only a few miles from my house.

When you actually see it you feel like you could actually run into Snow White and the 6 or 7 dwarfs in the greenery camping out.
image

For years I didn’t even know the difference between a forest and the woods.

But there is a huge difference and W. G. Jones State Forest on 1488 at the edge of Conroe proves that.

The best thing – it’s absolutely free and open to you and your family during daylight hours.

I recommend taking your kids there so they can experience nature and an actual forest and not the woods behind your house!
