Lorenzo Lezcano is the owner of Festiva Auto Sales on Houston’s East End.
The used car lot owner says he has seen a 20% decline in his business because of a new state law that went into effect last year.
The law prohibits anyone in Texas from buying or registering a car without a state issued identification card and or license.
Lezcano says in the past his mainly Hispanic customer base would use their identification cards from Mexico or matriculas.
Now, Lezcano says he has to turn down customers who are left without any form of transportation.
If Lezcano breaks the rules he could be hit with a heavy fine by the state of Texas.
Note: This law was mainly enacted to stop undocumented workers from buying cars!
