A Harris County sheriff’s deputy drove to a home at Kluge Road and Dale Road in response to a complaint about a male peacock attacking women.
After getting details from a female witness, the deputy contacted the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services animal control division, which said it did not handle birds. Deputies with the HCSO livestock division, which responds to complaints about stray animals throughout the county, were unable to come to the scene quickly.
Then the peacock in question fanned its colorful feathers and used its talons to attacked the legs of the woman being interviewed by the deputy.
To protect the woman from further harm, the deputy shot his Taser at the peacock twice. The bird was seemingly unfazed by the electric probes. The woman fled indoors.
The deputy then met with an owner of the peacock, which previously had attacked his mother-in-law.
The owner proceeded to kill the peacock with his shotgun.
No charges were filed.
